Humphrey's - Sheraton Hotel La Jolla

Humphrey's restaurant at the Sheraton Hotel in La Jolla, CA. The bill was originally $10, but we had a 50% off coupon, so it was $5. The sandwich was just OK, $10 would be too much. The potato looks purple and I thought that was interesting.

Sheraton Hotel - La Jolla, CA

Sheraton Hotel in La Jolla. This is the room we stayed in when we went to San Diego. About 20 minutes from downtown area in San Diego. $269 a night. The weird thing was that the check-in/check-out building and room building were separate. Not enough parking outside the rooms. But we liked the room. There was free popcorn and bottled water, also Starbucks coffee and teas, dishes, microwave, and mini fridge.

We didn't realize until the day we were leaving, but there is a shopping center just around the corner with a Wholefoods, a Save-On, a smoothie place, and some other little restaurants and cafes.

We were so shocked by all these extra fees. Tourism fee? SDTMD Assessment? What??

Mermaid Restaurant & Lounge - Silverton Casino

Mermaid at Silverton. It's a lounge, so it's not really the place you wanna eat food. Food was OK. But I didn't like the waitress here. Taking our order and bringing the food was really slow.

I also didn't like the fact one of the waitress asked us, "Hey, I'm just wondering why you're taking picture of the food?" "Are you a professional photographer?" "Because you have nice camera." I guess nobody did it before at this place. We said because we like taking picture of the food. Later, a different waitress came by and asked exactly the same questions with the same sentence. They didn't say anything like we can't take any pics, they were really just asking why, but it really made me uncomfortable.

Also when I asked the waitress about the creme brulee, she started explaining what creme brulee is....I know what creme brulee is! Then she said they don't have it.

Mermaid fish & chips, $11

Oki Doki - Costa Mesa

At first, we were gonna go to Anjin, located in the same area, actually, like next door or something, but it was so crowded and we would have had to wait 30 minutes, so since we were heading to San Diego we decided to try this place. What I learned from this place was if you don't know the taste, don't go. You always should check the reviews first, research online first.

We ordered 3 items plus Thai iced tea, $2. Croquette didn't taste like homemade at all. Also the color was too yellow to me. I ordered dumpling soup from their recommended menu. They need to add some descriptions on the menu. The soup had kimchi in it. I wasn't feeling like eating kimchi but I could eat it, but my husband doesn't like kimchi. Some people don't like it, so the menu should say so. If I knew that kimchi was in it, I probably wouldn't have ordered it.

So yeah, everything was bad. The food here is like I could eat, but I wouldn't. Also we had a hard time getting refills. This place is pretty tiny but still we couldn't get the waitress. We're never gonna come back here.

Fried croquette (2pcs), $4

Hot Wok - Northridge, CA

After reading so many good reviews about this place, we decided to give it a try. This place was a huge disappointment.

There were so many pet photos on the walls, it was kinda creepy. Makes me nervous. I was hoping that they don't use any dog's meat. While we were waiting for our order, a homeless guy walked inside. He smelled sooo bad. This never happened to me before.

Prices were a little too much for me for the quality of the food. Seafood is $11-$16, beef & pork are $8.95-$11, vegetables are $7-$9, noodles are $6.95-$8.55, chef's specials are $10.95 - $14.95, and drinks are no refill.

Lunch special is served 11:30am-4pm, $4.25 - $7.95 (served with soup, salad, rice, fruit).

The food was terrible. It was really really REALLY bad. And PLEASE don't get the fried wontons. They are awful. I also don't recommend the noodles.

House special with soft noodles, $8.55
Noodles had some smoky flavor. Maybe the chef was smoking when he was making this. I hope not. The meat had a weird taste.

Chicken with broccoli, $9.95
I could eat this. How can you mess up chicken and broccoli? That's so simple and easy to make. When we ordered, we asked them to use white meat and no MSG.

Fried wontons (10), $3.95

Before we ordered this, we asked what's in the wontons. The guy (I think he's the owner, but not sure) said ground chicken. Now, does this look like ground chicken to you? First of all, it's not ground. Second, it wasn't chicken meat. It was chewy and I couldn't bite. I just gave up eating this and put it in the trash. What is this? Dog meat?

Hometown Buffet

Hometown Buffet. It was $22.58 for 2 people. So about $12 per person. We always talk how every time we come here, the price is higher than last time. I personnaly hate Hometown Buffet. Low-quality food, high fat, instant food...and too much American food (of course). Just too much for me. I just don't like this type of food at all. The reason we came here was because sometimes my husband goes crazy and he just wanna go to a buffet. But everytime after finish eating, he says this is nasty, I don't wanna anymore.

And the worst part about eating here is the kids, they don't wash their hands after bathroom, and when we were eating, one old man came out from the bathroom and he had long toilette paper under his shoes.

From all these total 20 pics, my plate was only 3 of them.
