California Burrito Grill - Koreatown

Thanks to Groupon, I got free $10 credits so I decided to use it at this place. Yes, all the food below were totally free. Since I'm not familiar with Mexican food, I was keep asking questions to the guy but he was very nice and helped me a lot. I basically got whatever he recommended.

Well, I guess one is pork and one is beef. For tacos, you choose any meat you want. They'll give you so much meat.

Big Man Bakes - Downtown, L.A.

I was in the area while Downtown artwork last year, I was like "oh my god, there is Big Man Bakes!" I just had to go inside even I'm not a cupcake person. I liked cupcakes. I thought it's gonna be too sweet for me, but it wasn't.

I think they are mini red velvet and chocolate cupcakes, $1 each.

Ozero Tea & Desserts - Little Tokyo

New boba tea place opened up in Little Tokyo. I didn't get boba, I just got some cakes. Their cakes are not homemade, disappointed although I did like cakes I had. This is a good place to kill my time.

Not many choices. There were cream puffs, chiffon cake, chocolate cake, cheesecake, pie, and mousse, I think. Each slice of cake is $3.75.

Taro cake $3.75

Green tea chiffon cake $1.50

Myung In Dumplings - Koreatown

I visited here back in April, 2011. Highly rated on Yelp, everyone says it's good even "B" rating.  But when I came here, there were only one other customers, more crowded next door (well, the next door was brand new place, and cheap). I wasn't impressed with the food here and also not cheap compare to some other dumpling places in Koreatown.

I'm guessing maybe they used to be very good.

Plan Check Kitchen + Bar - West L.A.

Another new delicious burger place is opening on Sawtelle. Food's from a former Umami guy. It's still soft opening, I was lucky that I could try this place through Thrillist and got 30% off on food. They don't open to the public until the 22nd.

Our drinking glasses smelled like an eggshell. I couldn't drink water. I asked to change the glass to the new one right before we leave.

menu

PCB $10
Akaushi red wagyu beef, ketchup leather, savory onions, mixed pickles, crunch bun

I don't know how they did it, but the burger was tasty. I really enjoyed crunchy toasted bun.

Southern fry sandwich $10
smokey fried jidori chicken, duck breast ham, pickles

There were two big pieces of chicken! Fried chicken was very juicy. I enjoyed combination of fried chicken, duck ham, and crunch bun. I really like this crunch bun.

Fresh cut fries $5
Skin on kennebecs, beef tallow, smoked salt, fresh ketchup.
I liked ketchup. It was sweet with a touch of spiciness.
