It was on sale, we like pecan pie, we like Sara Lee products, so we bought this Sara Lee southern pecan pie. I'm not sure if it's only this one or also the other ones too, but this pie had a really weird taste. We both had one bite, and the rest of the pie went to trash. Also the filling was way too sweet. Very disappointed.

Pecan pie is always way too sweet for my taste.
ReplyDeleteThis pecan pie is the best!! Everyone in my family loves it.When I bake one I know it'll be gone by the next day! The only problem I've had in the last year is it's almost impossible to find in stores anymore. I found four in a store the other day and bought them all but now I have to try and find some for Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteSorry to see your bad experience, my experience with this pie has been better. Sara Lee Pecan Pie is the best Pecan Pie that I have ever had. It is not worth baking one from scratch. It is very rich, so you can't have too much. Unfortunately, the custard is a little runny.
ReplyDeleteThese are hard to find, but my store sells them as the "fresh store baked" pies. They are in the bakery dept, fully baked and in the store's own boxes. Often, they are on sale cheaper than they are in the freezer case.
My husband sometimes makes pecan pie from scratch and it's much better than Sara Lee.
ReplyDeleteWe love this pie!! My problem is I can't find it anymore. If someone knows where I can purchase it in the PHX. AZ. area please let me know.
ReplyDeleteCan someone maybe HELP me with the Sara Lee Pecan Pie recipe from the 1980's... WOW..! Now that was a Pecan Pie... I really loved those Pies and was devastated when they were taken off the market by Sara Lee... Can anyone maybe help me to get my hands on this special recipe...
ReplyDeleteSara Lee distributes this pie under the brand name of Chef Pierre so I bought one. The only problem is it does not have directions on how to bake it. It simply states to store frozen - help.
