Musha - Santa Monica

Musha in Santa Monica, a Japanese izakaya style restaurant. This place opens at 6pm, we got here about 5 minutes before 6pm and already there were several people waiting outside.
This place is really popular and busy, if you come here anytime after 6:30pm, you'll probably have to wait. I mean, 6:15, already this place was packed and the customers keep coming in! I really recommend making reservations.

The taste...yes, the taste was very good. We liked the food here a lot, most of them. The only thing we were not crazy about was the tofu fries. And I was also little disappointed in the green tea parfait. The portion was small.

The seats (tables) are really close to the next table, you can hear next tables' conversations. So no serious talk here!

And I don't know if because it's busy, but each food arrived very slow. (The couple sitting next to us was also saying that.) We got our first plate, then about 10 minutes later, we got another plate, and so on. That's after we ordered 6 dishes at one time, we also ordered another dish later, and we had to wait about 15-30 minutes for that.

Now, there is also Musha in Torrance, and they seem to have more dishes and more parking spaces, that's what I read on internet.

Seared Albacore Tuna Salad $9.80
*recommended!

Kabocha (pumpkin) Croquette $6.95
*recommended! YUMMY

Butakim $6.95
Thin sliced pork stir fried with kimchee and mushrooms.
(I was just checking this menu and realized, instead of "stir fried", the menu says "stair fried".)
*recommended! this was my favorite.

MFC "Musha Fried Chicken" $7.95

Anago Meshi $7.80
Glazed sea eel, hijiki seaweed, and mitsuba leaf mixed with rice. Then grilled in a stone bowl.
When this rice arrived, it was in a stone bowl, but then the waitress mixed the rice and served like in a picture.

Vegetable miso soup $2.50 (carrots, daikon, radish, onion and chives in it)
*recommended!

Tofu french fries $5.95

Green Tea Parfait $5
Now, don't call this parfait! Call this green tea ice cream! Because I was expecting Japanese style Parfait and got this. Disappointed. Taste was fine, just ice cream, corn flakes, and little cream and snack.

  1. Oh the food at Musha in Santa Monica is definitely better than the one in Torrance. Even though Torrance is not as busy and has plenty of parking, it's not worth going there. Musha Santa Monica is one of me and my husband's favorite restaurants.
