Cafe Bizou in Sherman Oaks. A place for casual French food for reasonable prices. We got here 5 minutes after they opened for dinner, but already there were people eating. We decided to share appetizers. My carrot rosemary soup was very good and only $3.25. Good deal. But the French onion soup was so disappointing. It tasted like consomme instead of onion soup. The appetizer combo plate was good, too. I wasn't crazy about tuna tartare, but the other things were good and interesting. And the best thing about this combo plate was nothing had cheese in it.
After trying all these appetizers, I was ready for some dessert. I ordered the filo basket. It's banana slices in a filo dough basket with chocolate sauce. This was so disappointing, again. Because I got this $7 dessert that I can make at home so easy. Same thing with that onion soup, we both said "our homemade onion soup is much much better than this".
When we were ready to leave, which was around 7pm, the restaurant was packed, the customers were waiting for a table. Service was fine. Overall, sure, I'd go back here again, but just won't order the onion soup or filo basket.
After we left the restaurant, we decided to go to Bamboo Cuisine, located right next door to Cafe Bizou. We got fried rice to go for next day lunch.
