Kimchi Korean Restaurant - Valencia

Kimchi Korean Restaurant in Valencia. Probably Korean family owned. We ordered bulgogi with soon tofu, $16.50. Yes, it's expensive. My opinion is the banchan (aka pan chan) is absolutely better at So Kong Dong Tofu House Korean B.B.Q which is located about 2 minutes from this place. Kimchi tasted like from Korean supermarket in Koreatown. But soon tofu and bulgogi tasted fine.

Orange sky

I just woke up and I realized outside is all so dark and orange. Yes, it's on TV, this fire started in Malibu, and this smoke came into the Valley. The sun was red. Unfortunately, I don't have that high quality camera to take a picture of the sun. But it's kinda scary, I opened the door, I smelled smoke from fire. These were taken around 2 pm today.

Vegetable Delight Chinese Restaurant - Granada Hills

Vegetarian Chinese restaurant in Granada Hills. Service was great, food was tasty. All the food is made with soy, konnyaku, gluten, etc. It didn't look like so much food but we were so full by the time we were ready to leave. Usually when we go to Chinese restaurants, we always feel sick because it's so greasy, but these dishes were not greasy at all, I felt really healthy. Also, this place was the only Chinese restaurant I've been to where the waiter wasn't standing up and looking at customers and waiting for money.

Blackstone's at Monte Carlo will be closing

It's kinda sad, Blackstone's was a fine restaurant. Their last day will be Oct. 28. New steakhouse "HIDE" will be there in 2008.

Tyson - any'tizers boneless chicken wyngs

It was on sale. We got it for $1. I never tried Tyson frozen food before. This "any'tizers" Buffalo style Boneless Chicken Wyngs really sucks. Seriously, I'm warning you, don't eat them or you're gonna be sick. I'm not sure if they are real food or not. I felt so bad after I had a half bite.
































I don't see real meat, I see plastic looking meat. I even not sure if they are using real meat or not.














Because it tasted terrible, I thought if I ate it with something else, like on curry rice, maybe it'll be better but it wasn't. It still tasted awful so I just put it in the trash.

Homemade Streusel-Crumb Coffee Cake

I made coffee cake. I believe recipe is from the Starbucks cookbook. I made a copy of this recipe from a book at the library a long time ago. So I'm not sure which book this was.

















Streusel-Crumb Coffee Cake serves 10-12

For the streusel:
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the cake:
2 cups cake flour
1 cup granulated sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup milk

Preheat an oven to 350F. Butter and flour a 10-inch tube pan, a 9-inch springform pan or an 8-inch-square baking pan.

To make the streusel, in a medium bowl, combine all the streusel ingredients. Blend well and set aside.

To make the cake, sift the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Add the butter, eggs, vanilla and milk. Beat vigorously until smooth and quite thick, about 1 minute.

Spread half of the batter in the prepared pan and sprinkle with half of the streusel mixture. Spoon the remaining batter over the streusel, then top with the remaining streusel. Bake until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean, about 50 minutes. Cool about 20 minutes, then remove the cake from the pan.

New Moon Chinese Restaurant

Expensive Chinese restaurant. Everything on the menu is about $2 cheaper if you order to go, and no tipping. I couldn't believe this one noodle dish cost over $12 including tax. You can get same stuff at Monterey Park for $6! It tasted OK, but it's not worth $12.


Lo Mein With Shrimp $11.25 (comes with rice)I couldn't believe it when I saw this. Noodles were pushed into this tiny container. At least they could use a bento box so it'll look better. Maybe?

Melt Gelato & Crepe Cafe at Westfield Topanga Mall. Very expensive. Gelato tasted just OK. Won't eat again. Crepe was also OK, but whoever was making crepes lost our order, we had to wait over 20 minutes to get this crepe. SUCKS.
