MGM Grand - Shibuya 2007

Shibuya at MGM Grand. We always wanted to try this place, and we finally got a chance. Our waiter said this place's menu changes about every 6 months. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent. It's a bit pricey, if you are paying your own money, but we were not so we ordered a lot. Maybe it was little too much food for us. We were both so full about half way through. All this food plus one bottled water $8 was total $180.

Our daily special salad was very small portion and expensive, but the food tasted sooooo good. It was probably my favorite dish of all. Tuna was so tasty and it wasn't so oily, I think. Usually fatty tuna is very oily. I'm glad we got this. All the sushi were also delicious.

This place was very busy, so you might wanna make reservations.

Daily special salad $24
Grilled fatty tuna, asparagus, grape tomatoes, butter lettuce, black truffles, shoyu vinaigrette

Australian wagyu skirt steak (tobanjan glaze, shiso marinated shiitake) $39
Beef was good, of course, but I also really liked the marinated mushrooms. Mushrooms were very tasty.

Kyoto miso soup $6

Sushi - tamago (egg) $6.50 x 2, unagi (eel) $9, ama ebi (sweet shrimp) $12, hamachi $10, ume shiso roll $5, inaka (marinated shiitake mushroom and ume paste) $12

Tempura combination $20
I always like to get tempura at nice Japanese restaurants, because they taste better, and these were good. Crispy, not so greasy.

Calpico caramel and passion mousse (with kinaco ice cream, kuromame and crumble) $9
I couldn't really taste Calpico or passion mousse flavor. Dessert tasted just OK. Nice presentation, though.

  1. We ate there this past week. Food was outstanding but I left feeling a bit "scammed." Most of the menu items were in the $50 range. The waiter offered us the special which was a small sampling from each of the 7 most popular dishes. I neglected to ask the price, but when the bill came it was over $130/plate!!! Dinner for 2 with a $35 small canter of Saki and tip was almost $400!!!!

  2. Yeah, this place is expensive. I wouldn't go here unless comped. Also this place changes their menu every 6 months or so, so it's possible drinks and some other menu prices went up.
