St. Marc's Cafe located inside Westfield Topanga mall in Canoga Park, CA. Their pastries tasted good, but I was kinda shocked when I saw this place, it was like a tiny fast food place. I was expecting more like a cafe. Also they actually make everything here, but the pastries didn't look so good. I saw pictures of the ones in Japan, and they look so good. But again, even though they didn't look delicious, the taste was good. So go for it, try them.
I thought these pastries were a little expensive. Choco cro was very small.
Choco Cro $1.90
Maple danish $2.85

St. Marc Cafe is the best hidden treasure inside a mall. The pastries are fresh and warm when you purchase them. If the pastry isn't warm the staff is always willing to warm the pastry up for me. I have paid for a chocolate croissant at a Coffee bean or a Starbucks and they are larger. Unfortunately for them the size is big but the pastry itself is hardly ediable. A girl who work's at Saint Marc Cafe told me the reason the cholate is so good is because it is imported from Japan. I love this place. I visit every time I'm at the mall. Lol...When my husband comes with me he has a box of chocolate croissants aka Choco cros to himself!!
ReplyDeleteSt. Marc Cafe was actually really good. I tried thier "Chocolate Vanilla D'Mande" and it was really Chocolatey! and thier "Lean Latte" was really good for a sugar free, non fat drink...i expected a funny after taste like most sugar free drinks. Overall the service was extra friendly, and the food speaks for itself. I liked it alot :)
ReplyDeleteI've been to both the Japanese and the USA St Marc Cafe locations. The Choco Cro is exactly the same. The pastries vary from Japan and the Usa because not all of the pastries in Japan would translate well to the American palate. How many Americans do you know who would be willing to eat a egg suprise croissant, a red bean paste croissant and/or a green tea flavored croissant? The pastries are expenisve because St. Marc's uses high quality pastries. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for!"
ReplyDeleteI believe it has closed. There was a short documentary on jatv that showed how difficult it was to sell high quality pastries in the U.S. as US cutomers are more interested in the fillings rather than the quality of the croissant.
ReplyDeleteWere there any other locations?
Thanks for the info. I just checked Yelp and somebody had a comment and says it's gone, and a cupcake place is there now. I don't know if there are any other locations in the U.S., but maybe still some locations in Japan.
