Mazinga Z - Koreatown

Another Korean Izakaya I've been wanted to go. Mazinga Z is a famous Japanese robot anime.
We had two servers, one is Korean guy and he was very nice, but the other girl was little bitchy. Maybe she was latina or something, can't remember. Anyway, the service can be good or bad, depends on the servers.

So we wasn't sure what to order, so we asked to our nicer server (a korean guy) for popular dishes. He explained and told us popular dishes. I asked if they have any rice dishes and he said rice dishes are very popular and you have to come here earlier, because they sell out.

So we decided what to order, we pressed the button, and the bitchy lady came to take our orders. We ordered 4 things on the menu, she wasn't writing down, and she wasn't paying attention enough, that's why she didn't take our order right and forgot one of our order, and never said sorry.

Also when I asked if they have any hot tea, they said "no, we don't have tea, but we have hot water, it's kinda similar". And brought us warm water. Maybe you can bring your own tea bags.

I don't say the food is delicious, and maybe they are made with pre-made or frozen stuff, but I do like food here.

menu

Spicy rice cake with ramen $8.99
Instant noodles, hard boiled egg, rice cake, some veggies. I liked it a lot. I think I'm gonna make this at home.

Fishcake soup $7.99
One of our nicer server recommended Pollack soup, so we decided to order that, but the other server told us they don't have it, so we ordered mussel soup, but the waitress brought us this fishcake soup. I told her we ordered mussel soup, and she said "your friend pointed this on the menu" and walked away. whatever. The soup was like Japanese oden soup and it was fine.

Pork & Kimchi $9.99
Spicy and tasty

I was gonna go to some other Izakaya in Little Tokyo, but somehow I ended up coming here. The service was average and the food was also average, although you must try their homemade tofu, it was really good.

My friend said it tastes frozen.

Shrimp stuffed shiitake mushroom tempura $7.50
Greasy, but good.

Tubular rolled fish cake $6
These are ok, but not recommended.

sushi

Sauteed duck and eggplant $8.50
I like eggplant and the sauce, but duck wasn't good.

Garlic butter flavored sauteed scallop and mushrooms $8.50
It was bland.

Shiratama Zenzai $6.50
Green tea ice cream with mochi dumplings and red bean paste.

Tibet Nepal House - Pasadena

This is one of the restaurant I've wanted to try for years. Why? Because I've never had Nepal food before. Of course I wanted to have Yak, but so many people who tried Yak on yelp said the meat is tough, so I just didn't eat it.
The service was ok, and the food was blah. I was very disappointed. The only dish I'd recommend would be appetizer sampler.

We used restaurant.com coupon

menu

House Special Sampling Platter $10.99
Combination of Aloo achaar, Himalayan chicken, Momo, and cheese.

Dumplings were good. I usually don't like cheese, but these cheese were different, and didn't taste like cheese, reminds me of Indian cheese. I liked it too. Aloo achaar were not bad.

Naan $1.99

Tse Phing $ 7.99
Lightly sautéed mushrooms and varieties of vegetables with Emma, star anis and Himalayan spices, and simmered with beans noodle.

We asked to our waiter, "we want curry, which one do you recommend?" and the waiter recommended this dish. I guess these are curry flavor, but not really curry that we wanted to eat. Well, there were some language problems. Bland, boring, it's not something I'd order again.

House Specialized Platter $15.99
Combination of sekuwa chicken, lamb and shrimp. The taste was bland. Not my favorite for sure.
