Seoul Hae Janggook Tofu House - Ginseng Chicken Soup
Ginseng chicken soup (Samgyetang) from Seoul Hae Janggook Tofu House, located inside Northridge Galleria Market. My husband ordered this, and I basically only had some banchan (fish, kimchi, etc) as I don't like this type of chicken dish. But it's quite good for food court food. Tastes homemade.
It's a small whole chicken, and inside the chicken was stuffed with rice, garlic, chestnut, as shown in the last picture.
*Sorry for the quality of the picture. It's from a cellphone.
Ginseng Chicken Soup $10.99 + tax $1.02 = $12.01

Sprinkles Red Velvet Cupcake
We happened to try this famous Sprinkles cupcake. This is one of their popular ones, "red velvet". I believe each cupcake costs about $3. It's tasty, but it's way too sweet for me. It's probably too sweet for most Asians as usually Asians prefer less sweetness. But if you grew up in America eating American sweets, then you'll LOVE it.
Here's a video that was showing on the local news. Sprinkles started a mobile truck so you can follow on Twitter and find the location where they are now.

Caesars Palace - Nero's 2008
Our second time at Nero's at Caesars Palace. We really liked the first time we visited here back in 2007. This was on Christmas Day, so they had a special menu. I ordered NY strip, my husband ordered from the Christmas menu: crab salad, duck, and dessert.
CLICK HERE for pics from 2007.
lobster bisque $14
NY strip (16oz) $49 + sauce $3
I never had New York Strip before. I always order filet mignon or rib-eye so I decided to order this. My husband told me that this is the basic steak you can get. Also it's tougher than other meat. I figured this is probably a good place to order steak. They probably cook it right. But unfortunately the steak was too tough for me, and I didn't like it at all. I'm never gonna eat this steak again. At least I learned that.
roasted potatoes $9
Of course, you can't see this purple color while you are eating, since the restaurant is pretty dark. Potatoes were tasty.
Alaskan king crab salad $19
Marinated daikon, pineapple jus, vanilla oil
Absolutely delicious!! Tasty. Can you see vanilla beans in the oil!?
Long Island Duck "2 ways" $39
Seared breast and confit of leg, braised endive, fried polenta, orange-coriander sauce
The duck was just OK.
Chocolate, custard, and apple $7 (?)
pistachio biscuit, light chocolate mousse
Mini apple. The smallest apple I've ever seen. This was the size of a cherry. At first we couldn't tell what this was, because it looks like a cherry but it doesn't taste like a cherry. It was very good.
Rich chocolate mousse
Nero's menu.This was taken in December 2008.
* Wow, prices went really up since 2007.

Ramen Ezo Fukurou - Miso Ramen
We were recently at Mitsuwa's "Umaimonoichi". We went to this last year, too.
CLICK HERE for pics from 2008.
This year, they had this ramen place called "Ezo Fukurou" at the Mitsuwa food court in Torrance.*えぞ梟 (this is how you spell if you wanna Google it in Japanese).
It looks like this is a sister store with Santouka. They actually make to order. We probably waited about 10 minutes. It was big portion for us, we shared it and that was about the right amount for us.
Ramen was good enough, my husband even said it was the best ramen he ever had. The noodle style was "chizire-men". Cha-shu was melting in your mouth.
They probably will have next year, too, if you missed it this year. But looks like the Mitsuwa store in New Jersey is having this ramen this weekend (until 6/14).
Miso Ramen $8.45 + tax $0.78 = $9.23

Caesars Palace - Beijing Noodle No.9
Beijing Noodle No. 9 at Caesars Palace. We were not sure if we wanted to eat here or at Sea Harbour. But the Sea Harbour prices were a rip-off, it was seriously expensive, so we decided to try here. The decor was very nice, like a cool cafe in Tokyo. I didn't realize until now, but all the items in the menu prices are .09. This place also has bird's nest on the menu for $99.09.
We got our first order (it was chicken) after waiting 30 minutes. They said beef pancake and soup dumplings take longer to cook.
I suggest you order whatever says "chef's special", maybe? At least the noodles here looks like homemade, so you might wanna try that, but I'm not saying they are delicious. We weren't crazy about the noodles, but maybe you'd like them.
We don't know what "Beijing" style food taste should be. We've never been to Beijing. So if you are actually from Beijing and tried this place, please tell me if this is the real Beijing taste or not.
Imperial seafood soup dumplings $12.09
I hated, but he liked it.
Rice $3.09
Rice should be free, don't you think?
Chef's special handmade noodle with diced eggplant (Beijing style) $12.09
Noodle itself had no taste, but with eggplant, it was all right. It was very light flavor.
Chef Yu's special beef pancake $9.09
I actually liked these pancakes. My husband didn't.
Beijing salt and pepper chicken $15.09
We were kinda shocked when we saw this chicken. Because it looked very different from salt and pepper chicken we've eaten before. This was just dry, deep-fried chicken. My husband was so pissed off and hated it.
And the chicken didn't look like real chicken.

Red Rock casino - Terra Rossa
We've been wanting to try this place out, because the chef is a "Hell's Kitchen"'s winner. But looks like that winner doesn't work here anymore. And maybe this place was good when they opened up, but when we went in January, 2009, it wasn't good at all.
Bread and antipasto platter was pretty much the same as Terra Verde at Green Valley Ranch, but with less quality, and the menu was also very similar. We loved Terra Verde, back in 2007 (we haven't back there, so I don't know if it's still good or not).
Everything we had at Terra Rossa was pretty disappointing, except their daily appetizer special, which was a salad with crabmeat. That was the only thing we liked.
This might be the first time none of the food made me wanna eat when we received our food. My husband said his lasagna was the flattest lasagna he had ever seen.
I always like to order dessert to have a happy ending, but I figured that would be just wasting my money here. I rated 2.3 and that's because I liked the salad. If I didn't have salad, I'd rate 1 out of 5. Don't waste your time and money here. If you are looking for a place to eat at Red Rock casino, try Hachi instead. It's not Italian, but it's a good place to eat.
bread
antipasto
calamari $12
Even this simple calamari was just so-so.
daily appetizer special $16
capellini pomodoro $15
plum tomato, garlic, basil, olive oil
Can you imagine you get this plate in front of you? This doesn't look good at all. I was expecting a little more pretty and delicious looking plate. This looks like something we make at home when we are so hungry and wanna have something very quick. Totally wasting your money.
lasagna $18
bolognese, bechamel, provolone, mozzarella, parmesan
Again, it wasn't looking pretty. It looked like pre-frozen lasagna.
