One of my husband's Twitter friends had this cupcake tasting at "It's a Grind coffee house" in Castaic. There were 7 mini cupcakes and it was $10. We also ordered coffee drinks (16 oz., $3.95), and the owner gave us 10% discount. The workers were very nice, so I would go back again, if we ever come to this area.
There was chocolate, red velvet, coconut, lemon, pumpkin, etc. My favorite was lemon. As American cupcakes, they were not too sweet like most other cupcakes (like Sprinkes). But it's still sweet enough. I personally like a little more less sweetness for my desserts. But they were good. Each cupcake had their own taste.

Last night, we went to the "Three Apples" an exhibition celebrating 35 years of Hello Kitty preview party. The party started at 7pm. We got there around 8:30pm and there was already too many people there, waiting in line, and they won't let you get inside, so we left and came back around 10pm. Unfortunately, because we got inside so late, we missed seeing Paris Hilton and Kimora Lee, also some of the food, and the gift bag, a Hello Kitty tote bag filled with Sanrio goods (they ran out). I was so disappointed.
Here's the food we got. Drinks, choco-covered strawberry, cake, and grilled chicken with vegetables (5th pic).
This "Three Apples" exhibition is going on Oct.23-Nov.15, 2009 at Royal/T maid cafe. You can see art, also you can purchase Hello Kitty items that are hard to get in the U.S. But the price is double what you pay in Japan.

We went to the Simpsons 20th anniversary party on Oct.18 and I thought I would share some of the pics.
There were some celebrities. But unfortunately, I don't know most of them.
Picture left: you can make your own one of a kind designed mask. Picture right: choose up to 3 designs, you decide where you wanna print, and make your own one of a kind T-shirt. We made these T-shirts. Because they printed it each one by hand, I had to wait in line for 90 minutes. But I couldn't ignore a free "ONE OF A KIND" T-shirt. Plus they were showing the Simpsons special, and had a live band, so it wasn't too bad waiting.
This is so cool!
popcorn, rice crispy, cakes, brownies, etc.
cookies
dessert, chicken, grilled veggies
chocolate dipped bacon!
cupcakes
Bacon wrapped tater tots, chocolate dipped maple glazed bacon, bacon donuts, and I believe candied bacon or something. The donuts only had little pieces of bacon on one side, so mostly tasted just like donuts. Chocolate dipped bacon was weird. I didn't think it was delicious. I mean, why do you have to dip bacon into chocolate? And whatever the left side next to chocolate bacon, it was so sweet and I don't know what they are, but it wasn't good. Oh, you know what, it might be bacon praline.
Tri tip sandwich and fries. Fries were like plastic. Sandwich was ...okay. But I thought it's cool that they made an original wrapper just for this party.
cake!
Tasted like banana.
The Simpsons family dancing!
