Water Grill - Downtown

Water Grill is one of the well known place in Downtown. But somehow it wasn't on my "wanna go" list because when I saw the menu, nothing really caught my eye. When my friend suggested this place, I wasn't that excited but well, ok, I never been so let's try.

The menu was very simple so it was easy for me to choose. Our server was very nice but really slow. And everything is overpriced. Probably most expensive and high calories lobster roll I've ever had. Instead of paying $29 here, pay $19 at Hinoki & the bird.

menu

Complimentary bread to start off
Not so good

Crisfield, Maryland blue crab cake $16
..was delicious

New England lobster roll $29
comes with fries. The bun was too buttery for me. Also too much mayo for me. It was tasty but not worth the price.

My friend ordered 8oz. filet mignon $33.
My friend tried it and didn't like it, only ate 1/4. Should have just send it back.. What a waste.
Also there was no sauce for the steak.

Braised kale with Greek yogurt and hazelnut $7
Since my order was very unhealthy, I also ordered kale. Our server forgot about this. She comped it.

Dessert menu

Caramel bread pudding $9

Father & Son Bakery & Grocery - Hollywood

Piroshki is one of the popular item here. It sells out quickly. Also the workers were nicer than the other bakeries around here.

They gave me one free raisin bread.

piroshki, I think it was $1. People come here for this.

Spinach inside. No flavor.

Van Bakery - Hollywood

There are many cheap bakeries in this area. Van Bakery is one of them. They are too sweet for me.

Some kind of mixed nuts in it.

AOC - Beverly Hills

I don't drink wine. I just wanted some good food so I came here for Sunday brunch with my friend.
Outside patio and the tables were full. Only bar area was open.

The service was not good at all. Our server NEVER came for refills unless I ask someone else to get our server. Every time I needed water or order more food, I had to get someone else and ask to get our waiter. I had two empty plates stacked but no one cleaned up. Well, of course, because our waiter wasn't around, he never checked us. I just didn't think I'm gonna have such a bad service at the place like here.

Iced tea

Spanish fried chicken & sweet potato waffle $16
jamon butter & maple syrup

I liked the taste but my friend didn't like it at all. It was too sweet for us. I was hoping they're gonna serve syrup on a side, but they put all over the waffle so we couldn't eat all the waffles. Sorry, but not everyone likes waffles soaked in maple syrup.

Flaked albacore $16
grilled spiced tuna, lemongrass sambal, raw bok choy & mizuna

It was tasty and refreshing flavor, however too much dressing. I wish I ordered dressing side.

AOC brioche $14
Frisee, prosciutto & sunny-side up egg

Recommended. Delicious.

Park's BBQ - Koreatown

Back in 2011, I had chance to visit Park's BBQ twice. Park's BBQ is not cheap but they serve good quality meat. This is absolutely one of my favorite BBQ place in Koreatown. Banchan dishes were delicious, of course meat too.

I think this is #3 seasoned gal-bi, $32

..And my second visit

I think it's #2 gal-bi $35
Beef tartar $25
seasoned with sesame oil, salt, sugar, sesame seed, pine nut.

And more meat

kimchi chigae
They gave us this complimentary chigae

Trio spumoni
Layered pistachio, chocolate, strawberry sorbet

Chocolate raspberry
