Okiboru Tsukemen - Chinatown

Okiboru, new tsukemen only restaurant just opened in Chinatown. With tsukemen, unlike its traditional ramen, the noodles are thicker and served on the side, hence the name “dipping ramen”. Noodles are made on-site from scratch. Broth painstakingly simmered for days.
We tried 4 different tsukemen. I definitely recommended their house made thick noodles.

Don't forget to check out my youtube video, too!

Hiyashi Chuka with chashu
I don't recommend this. I'm Japanese and I know what Hiyashi Chuka is. Because of that, I just can't recommend. Maybe they meant Hiyashi ramen. If you wanna know what Hiyahi Chuka is, just type this "冷やし中華" on google, you get real Japanese Hiyashi Chuka.
Grilled pork belly chashu
The Okiboru - signature item. Served with grilled pork ribs
They do know how to cook ribs. Recommended.
Veggie with grilled tofu
This was my personal favorite. I liked this creamy mushroom & veggie broth better than other bowls.

Erva Brew Co. Yerba Mate - Chinatown

It's located right in front of Howlin' Ray's, Erva serves yerba mate teas. A cold-brewed blend of organic, fair-trade yerba mate tea and farmers' market flavors. It's a healthy and sustainable way to improve energy, alertness & mood, without the downsides of energy drinks. Yerba maté is the second most consumed beverage in Argentina, after water.

Cheap Dim Sum at Tian's dim sum in Chinatown

Cheap and fast place to get dim sum in Chinatown. Nothing over $7.99. The cheapest item on the menu is $0.55. Some of them are good but some are not.

menu

Shrimp dumplings $2.50, shumai $2.50, and white rice cake $0.55
Didn't like rice cake at all. It was too sweet.
Preserved egg & pork congee (s) $1.99
The portion was big but we didn't like it at all. It tastes like Chinese medicine.
Juicy pork dumplings $6.99
It was made to order, was so juicy and delicious.

Sweet town - Chinatwon

Sweet town is a new cafe in Chinatown. If you like iced milk, boba and shaved snow, this is the place in the area. Prices are very reasonable compared with similar boba places in K-town or J-town.

Inside was filled with Rirakkuma. So cute.

menu

Taro Shaved snow with mango pudding and green tea mochi (S) $3.25
Mochi was hard. Snow and pudding were good.

Kim Hung Bakery - Chinatown

Another cheap bakery in Chinatown... Well, ok, all the bakeries in Chinatown is very cheap.
To be honest, this is not my favorite bakery in Chinatown, my pastries were ok.

Bunch cake $1 and Taro pastry

Bunch cake is like sponge cake. Super soft and spongy. Taro pastry is heavy, taro inside pie dough pastry.

Chimney Coffee House - Chinatown

Chimney coffee house offers varieties of brick toast and croissants, along with other pastries, sandwiches and coffee drinks. I tried latte, brick toast, and croissant but nothing impressed me.
I wanted to try Thai tea cream puff I saw on yelp but they didn't have it. Also Thai tea brick toast is coming soon, not yet. Too bad.

Bacon Nutella croissant $3.25

Cafe Mocha $3.75

Cafe latte $3.25

Green tea brick toast $6.50
It came with 2 scoops of green tea ice cream, green tea kit kat and whipped cream. It was very sweet. I couldn't finish them all.
