Tsurumaru Udon Honpo - Little Tokyo

I like Tsurumaru Udon. It's fast, cheap and delicious. Also everything is self-service so you don't have to wait to get refill or check. You order, pay, pickup food, pour water yourself, and return your trays.

I like Monzo but Tsurumaru is cheaper and pretty much same quality. Although I like tempura at Monzo better than Tsurumaru. Also portions are kinda small here, at Tsurumaru.

Zaru soba (L) $5.50
Is this really Large size? It's more like small size.

Kama-age udon (R) $4
And this is regular size. After finished eating, I wasn't full at all.

I also added chikuwa $1, sweet potato $1 and shrimp tempura $2.50

Whittier Time Bank's first fundraising dinner, hosted by pop-up vegan gastropub Urban Dinner Socials

I was invited to Whittier Time Bank's first fundraising dinner, hosted by pop-up vegan gastropub Urban Dinner Socials. The fundraising dinner also featured a silent auction and the premiere screening of Time as Money, a new documentary on time banking.

All menu items were vegan and gluten-free. Locally-sourced organic produce for this event includes pumpkin, eggplant, kale, tomatoes, pepper, cucumbers, lemons, figs, parsley, cilantro, chives, zucchini, green onions, and mint. Everything was delicious and I really enjoyed the food. I also learned about Time Bank. This event was very interesting.

Maruhide Uni Club - Torrance

If you like Sea Urchin, you must try this place. It's amazing how they can make so many different types of food with sea urchin. My friend doesn't like sea urchin so much, but loved this place. Everything was really delicious and fresh. Everything I ate are recommended.

Service needs to be improved. Extremely slow, no water refill until I ask, I asked for extra plates, I didn't have plates after 10 minutes so I stood up and asked them again, they said "can you wait?".
And 30 minutes wait to get pasta and they forgot our salad.

menu

Marinated sea urchin with squid roll $6.50

Boiled vinegard sea cucumber (from Santa Barbara) $5.50

Uni egg omelet $8.50
Japanese style egg omelet with sea urchin inside

One of the best omelet I've ever had. When you cut it, so much melted uni comes out. You must try this.

Uni soup comes with rice bowl. It also comes with salad but they forgot.

Nigiyaka bowl $23.80
Fresh sea urchin, marinated sea urchin with squid, tuna, salmon roe, salmon, boiled sea urchin, sea cucumber, uni egg omlette bowl.

So fresh and delicious. Lots of seafood with different types of sea urchin.

Olive bread comes with pasta

Sea Urchin cream pasta $13.80
So I guess they forgot about our pasta, we waited 30 minutes after we finished eating everything else. We were waiting for a while, wondering if we are getting our pasta or not. When I asked to our server, she said they are making now. 10 minutes later the different server told us, they are start making now.  ..Anyway, pasta was very rich and creamy.

Homemade pudding $5
It was solid. I prefer a bit softer.
