Mandalay Bay - Aureole

Last week, we were staying at Mandalay Bay, and we had a $30 food credit that came with our comped offer. Recently, we were browsing restaurant.com and we saw this place had a coupon, so we purchased a $50 gift certificate for $4. (They were having 80% off promotion. Normally, it costs like $20.) So it's like we are getting $80 of the food for only $4. That's a pretty good deal.

This place is very famous for wine, but unfortunately, we don't drink. The service was good, food wasn't amazing, but good enough.

complimentary bread (They brought out some bread that you can choose from 4 different breads and we got all 4)
Wheat, French, focaccia, and pretzel. My favorite was french bread. It was delicious.

Duo of Niman Ranch Pork $32
herb-crusted tenderloin, grilled belly, smashed white sweet potato

This was my plate. I didn't wanna order pork, because I don't like it (but I like Kurobuta pork and bacon, that's the exceptions). But I ordered it because I didn't see anything else that I wanted to order on the menu. I don't like white fish, I don't like roasted chicken, and I didn't wanna order steak or shrimp, because I only wanted to do like around $80. But the pork was good. I could finish eating it all.

The pork belly was so soft, like melting in my mouth. Also it was fatty. But delicious. And the white sweet potato was very good, too.

Grilled John Dory $36
brown butter treviso, house made andouille

My husband ordered this. Like I said, I don't like white fish, and to me, it had no taste (to me, white fish always has no taste). But he loved it. It's very interesting that they cook it with grapefruit.

Mandalay Bay Las Vegas hotel room

Hotel room at Mandalay Bay. It was nicer than we thought. The check-in counter is far from the self-park area. Internet is $14.99 per day. Because it's so close to the airport, you can hear the planes in the daytime. Otherwise I liked it.

Fleur de Lys - Mandalay Bay

Fleur de Lys at Mandalay Bay. I got the $79 Prix Fixe menu (appetizer, entree, dessert) and my husband got the $89 Prix Fixe menu (appetizer, fish, meat, dessert).

My choice was Ahi Tuna Three Ways, Duo of Kurobuta Pork with Truffle Chicken Sausage, and Citrus Trio. My husband chose Terrine of Duck Confit and Yukon Gold Potato, Scallops, Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs, and Chocolate Feast. We also got amuse bouche.

Some of the food tasted very good, but some not. Half and half. Probably either you like it or you don't like it. I probably won't come back here. It was fun though. At least I enjoyed the food by looking and I can tell that chef is spending quality time to prepare the food.

bread

amuse bouche

Ahi Tuna Three Ways - seared with lobster essence, tartare with ginger, tarragon rillettes
One of them was delicious (I don't remember which one), but other ones were not. I wish I'd gotten crab cakes instead.

Terrine of Duck Confit and Yukon Gold Potato - foie gras torchon with brioche, frisee salad, truffle coulis

Pan-Seared Maine Diver Scallops - porcini lasagna, wild mushroom tea, black truffle chantilly cream
This dish was delicious.

Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs (boneless) - jumbo asparagus, applewood smoked bacon polenta, kaffir lime scented red wine sauce

My husband was amazed about this cherry tomato. The waiter explained how a sugar cube rubbed on an orange peel is melted over it.

Duo of Kurobuta Pork with Truffle Chicken Sausage - caramelized cippolini onion, sweet young carrots, English peas, five spice jusKurobuta was delicious, but sausage wasn't. The sausage didn't taste like sausage.

Lemon Creme Fraiche Panna Cotta from the Citrus Trio
It was good.

Orange and Grapefruit Tarragon Gelee, Citrus and Thyme "Tart", Mandarin Orange SorbetGelee and sorbet were good, tart was not my favorite.

Chocolate Feast - caramel milk chocolate and banana mille feuille, chocolate pound cake, chocolate pot de creme, dark chocolate vanilla sorbet, milk chocolate macadamia nut tartChocolate was very rich, to me, too much heavy chocolate.

Mandalay Bay - Red White and Blue

Red White and Blue at Mandalay Bay. It's like a casual cafe. The taste was actually fine. Our salad and crab cakes were very good. Their pastries are freshly baked that morning. They also have gelato (or ice cream), burgers ($10-$16), sandwiches ($10-$15), some Italian dishes, seafood and steaks. It was so much food and I couldn't finish eating my tart. Too bad.

(big) blueberry muffin $3.50

apple tart $5

lobster cobb salad $18
diced lobster, chicken, bacon, egg, tomato, avocado and served with balsamic vinaigrette

Maryland blue crab cakes $14 (appetizer)
tomato marmalade and grain mustard sauce
