Canal Street - The Orleans hotel & casino, Las Vegas

I didn't know The Orleans has such a nice restaurant like this place, Canal Street. I think we had a dining credit and we decided to eat here.

menu

amuse bouche - I think it was cheese, grape and strawberry

House salad comes with entree
lettuce, diced eggs, croutons, candied walnuts, cucumber, tomato and artichoke hearts (I believe). Pretty big portion. The salad was very tasty.

Steak Diane $27
- Medallions of beef pan-seared with garlic, shallots, mushrooms, Dijon mustard and finished with bordelaise, cream and brandy sauce.

I didn't think I'm gonna like it at all until I tasted. Well, I guess you never know until you taste it, I loved it. Recommended.

Macadamia nut crusted double chicken breast $21
- Mango Chardonnay sauce

I ordered this dish because I like macadamia nut and mango, but I guess I don't like it with chicken. My chicken was little too sweet for me. I liked Steak Diane better.

complimentary chocolate snacks

dessert tray. Sorry to say this, but all desserts looks kinda boring.

The Orleans Las Vegas hotel room 2010

Hotel room at the Orleans. As you can see, it's very old style. Need some makeover. I'm not comfortable being in this room.
Also there is a charge of resort fee $5.

CLICK HERE for pics from 2006.

You can put tips in that envelope (if you want to).

Big Al's Oyster Bar - The Orleans

This place sucks. Every single item we ate was messed up. How can they make clam chowder so fishy and terrible tasting? And I think the pasta had some weird smoky flavor or smell, or something I'm not sure. It's not a good idea mixing pasta and jambalaya.

Also the portions were really big. Everything comes in a big bowl. Now I wonder how much food they are wasting everyday. How many customers can actually finish eating these nasty big portions of food? They should make it half portions and lower the prices.

Bread

Boston Clam Chowder, $6.45

Louisiana crab cakes (with Creole mustard sauce), $9.45
One of the top 10 worst crab cakes I ever had

Where is the crab meat?????

OK, finally I see tiny pieces.

Jambalaya pasta, $9.95
Andouille sausage, chicken, shrimp, Tasso ham, peppers and onion, in a creole sauce with fettuccine

Just nasty.

Look at all our leftovers. I hate wasting food but there's no way we could eat this nasty food.

The Orleans - Koji

Koji at The Orleans. Combination of Japanese and Chinese food. Expensive, we didn't like food here at all. We thought this place was big mistake.

The Orleans - buffet 2006

The Orleans dinner buffet in 2006. I DON'T recommended here. Just look at the last picture, yes, it's mold! Luckily, I found it. It's not only bad taste, they also using old food.
