Crab Catcher - La Jolla , San Diego

Crab Catcher in La Jolla, San Diego, back in 2008. We kinda had a hard time getting inside the restaurant. It was hard for us to find. Inside the restaurant was very dark and moody.

Since this was almost a year ago, I hardly remember, but I don't think it was that great. Food was OK, but not amazing or wanna go back many times. Crab cake and bisque were just OK, I had better ones before in many other places. I wish the surf & turf had more sauce (not butter). But food seems to be fresh. On the menu, they describe each seafood and where they caught it on each day.

Also the food arrived slow.

bread

Fire Shrimp $14
Serrano seared prawns, Thai basil potato

Crab Bisque $10
Roasted bell pepper-shrimp broth

Crab Cake Royal $14
Lump meat crab cake, sweet onion charred tomato relish, whole grain mustard remoulade.

Las Delicias $1 tacos al pastor - Newhall, CA

Las Delicias in Newhall, CA. This place was packed when we went there. The customers kept going in and out, never stop. Not only tasty food, but probably very popular because it's so cheap. We got their famous "tacos al pastor". It's $1 each.

$1 each but as you can see, it's pretty small. You know how big radish slices are.

Bellagio - Olives 2008

Olives at Bellagio, this was on Thanksgiving Day. We ordered the "Thanksgiving Day Special" on the menu. Food here is good, but I liked it more back in 2007. I like this restaurant because everything is very unique, and I can't make it myself at home. I still don't like that the tables are so close I can hear next people's conversations. Our waiter was very nice, when we were too full and couldn't eat the flatbread after one piece, he said, if we don't like the food, they can change it to something else that we like. So if you order something here, and don't like it, just say so and maybe they'll change it to something else.

Jumbo Lump Crab Cake $19
almond romesco, chickpea hummus, black olive tapenade, fried mint

We didn't like this crab cake. Crab cake + hummus + curry flavor whatever orange thing on top of the crab cake = weird

Foie Gras & Lobster Flan (Thanksgiving Day Special) $23
creamy foie gras & truffle flan, butter poached lobster, shaved black truffle, mache, lobster cream

This was one of their daily specials, if you don't like foie gras or truffle, I don't recommend. The flan was creamy and soft, and raw (that's the way it should be). It had really strong foie gras and truffle smell and taste. It's kinda too much. The sauce and the lobster was very good.

Pear & Pecorino Tartlet (Thanksgiving Day Special) $16
confit duck ragu, frisee, aged balsamic

Because it has cheese, I couldn't eat it, but my husband loved it.

Sweet Potato Flat Bread $18
sliced sweet potato, caramelized onions, capicola ham, roasted scallions & apple cider glaze

Very tasty, delicious. Too bad we were too full and couldn't enjoy it so much. This happens to us every time we go restaurants in Vegas. When you get everything comped, you wanna order so many things, right?

Pomegranate Braised Pork Shank (Thanksgiving Day Special) $43
bacony brussel sprouts, crispy fried oysters, golden potato & leek mash

It was HUGE and juicy. Fried oysters were delicious, and my husband loved his pork shank.

Banana tiramisu $10
banana mascarpone cream, banana cake, chocolate sauce, hahlua sabayon

cappuccino $4.50
