Phamish Vietnamese food truck. I always find food trucks right after I eat and of course I saw this truck after I had my lunch. I was full, but I got the food anyway as my late night snack.
Suehiro cafe, typical Japanese youshoku cafe. I ordered okonomi plate, which I get to choose 3 items from the list. My friend ordered house special. Food was all fine, everything tasted like food I used to eat when I was a kid.
First, we started off with miso soup.
sunomono - comes with house special
House special (stir-fried eggplant and bell pepper in miso sauce with chicken, beef or tofu) $8.90 -comes with rice, sunomono, miso soup, ice cream
This is my okonomi plate $9.60 -I choose ginger beef, shumai, two eggs
shumai tasted like frozen shumai you can buy at Japanese grocery stores.
Lola's, this place is famous for martini, especially apple martini. Everybody orders their apple martini. But I came here for their food because I heard food here is very good. I got here around 11pm, nobody was dining but the bar area was very crowded.
menu
pickles (free)
their famous apple martini too bad I can't drink alcohol...
Blue crab cakes $15 - fennel-apple slaw, vanilla bean aioli
I thought fennel-apple slaw was bland, but I don't care, because my crab cakes were really delicious.
Soup Du Jour (butternut squash) $6 Very thick and I can really taste butternut squash, I can tell this is homemade, not from pre made bag.
My friend ordered this, and I had a bite. I normally don't eat pork chops, because I don't like it most of the time, but this grilled pork chop was tasty and I liked it.
Betty's lemon ice box $8 Not much to say. nothing special.
For overall, the food was good, but not amazing. I really wanted to get something from Buttermilk, but when I was ready to order, they told me that they are closing because they have to go to the other event. Oh well, next time.
Here's what I tried.
Mandoline Grill So when me and my friend were trying to decide what to order, we heard they have tacos, and it's not on the menu so we decided to get tacos.
This is a grilled pork taco $2
spring rolls 2 for $4 It's different from Chinese or Japanese spring rolls.
I ordered kimchi fries (with no cheese) $6 - kurobuta pork belly with kimchi, onions and cheese What a crazy idea. It was fine, not bad at all, but I'm not sure if kimchi and fries are matching together. But I think I'm gonna try to make it at home.It was pretty big portion, we both couldn't finish eating all (I mean, yes, we did have some other food, too).
My friend ordered Rajas fries $6.50 - Angus steak marinated shawarma style with roasted poblano peppers, caramelized onions, jack cheese, lime and cilantro The steak was peppery, there were also spinach under the steaks.
Dainty cakes
Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting
Vanilla x Vanilla, Vanilla x chocolate, coconut
Vanilla Vanilla and Red Velvet cupcakes $3 each $3 for a cupcake!? Crazy. I liked vanilla ones better than red velvet. They were both little too sweet for me, but I still liked it.
