Rikyu in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles in July 2008. Our waitress was friendly, but the food arrived slow. It wasn't busy at all. In fact, we were the only customers when we got here. Empty restaurants always make me worry, especially when all other restaurants around here were packed, but we were hungry. We decided to eat here.
Food quality was like a supermarket food court in Japan, which means it's fine, you can eat it but not restaurant quality, like using store-bought noodles, topping, sauce... I'm sorry if this place is actually making everything from scratch, but I don't think so.
salad, comes with chicken teriyaki udon
Chikuwa Isobe Age $3.75
It was good, but it was a really small portion for $3.75. I can make these at home for 30 cents. Also it took 20 minutes to get this.
Teriyaki Chicken & Udon $12.50
Comes with rice, salad and miso soup.
What a crazy dish... To me, teriyaki chicken + udon = gross.
I've never seen teriyaki on top of the noodles before.
Sansai Udon $8
Sansai tasted like from a store-bought bag.
