Drago Centro - Downtown, L.A.

There are so many good restaurants in Downtown, Los Angeles. I'm really happy that I found this place on yelp. I was with my friend and we had some hard time finding free parking for this place. We didn't have reservation, but waited 15 minutes or so, and we got our table. But I really recommend to make reservations, because this place was packed.

menu

amuse bouche

l'uovo $12
sunny side up egg, chanterelle, cipollini, salsa verde

le animelle $14
crispy sweetbread, polenta, blackberry

I liked my sweetbread. The sauce was sweet.

i tagliolini con granceola $25
dungeness crab tagliolini, tomatoes, basil

So rich flavor with lots of crab meat. How these pasta can be so tasty with just crab, tomato, and basil? Well, simple is the best. The portion wasn't big, but because of the richness of the sauce, you won't be starved.

cappuccino
I didn't think they're gonna give me fake sugar. After I saw Splenda, I had to ask them to bring me real sugar.

i cannoli per due $18
stracciatella, orange pistachio, rosemary pine nut, tiramisu

One of the best cannoli I ever had. Each cannoli has different flavor and they were just good. Each cannoli is not so big, I'm guessing maybe like 5-6inches long. I shared with my friend, but I wish I ate all just by myself.

I think it was coffee flavor

Mignardise
It was very sweet

I must say everything I ate was delicious. Although I wasn't impressed with their service. Our waitress was nice, but slow. She was taking order first for the table next to us, even we were ready to order and they sat down after us. But once we placed our orders, our food came to the table pretty quick.

Katsuya - Downtown, Los Angeles

There are "Katsuya" and "Katsu-ya" restaurants. If you want better food, better service, original menu, then go to "Katsu-ya".

The service was very slow and it wasn't that crowded. I was looking at the menu around 6:30pm, then placed orders. Our first appetizer and drinks were served at 7:30pm. It usually takes 2 hours from start to finish at the steakhouse, but 3 hours at not so busy restaurant? Are you kidding me???
For the food, nothing outstanding.

the bar area

Creamy rock shrimp $16

7:40pm. I wouldn't say scallops + kiwi goes well together. Not for me.

Katsuya fresh
Krol vodka,Ty-ku sake, hand-crushed english cucumbers and freshly squeezed lime juice

8:30pm, I got my second drink. I wanted to order earlier, but couldn't get our waiter. My drink was very refreshing, just like that name.

Sea urchin $9, Salmon egg $6, Egg $5
8:50pm, we got our sushi. sushi was fine.

Sweet shrimp $8.50

Chocolate Cake
9:25pm, I got my dessert. They don't have dessert menu, just ask to your waiter.

I asked if they have cappuccino, and they said no, they have french press coffee so that's why I got this.

Marie Callender's Corn Bread Muffin Mix + a coupon code

I recently received this Marie Callender's corn bread muffin mix to review.
I like corn bread and free items. Sure, I'll be happy to try them!
I also have a coupon code below. Since thanksgiving and Christmas is coming soon, this is the perfect time to stock up your corn bread mix, biscuit mix, etc.

Corn Bread Muffin Mix 7oz $0.99
"- Our New 7oz Corn Bread Muffin mix has the same great original taste and is still easy to make. Our new pouch size makes this easy, affordable and of course a great addition to any meal. "

There are recipes and instructions on back of the package. I used basic recipe.

Combine 1 egg, 1/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup oil. Add muffin mix.
*I used low fat milk

Fill muffin cup 2/3 high with batter, bake 375F 13-15min.

And ready to serve. How easy is that!?

Because I used low fat milk, it was little crumbly and dried out, but otherwise I liked it. I couldn't stop eating it. If you use regular milk, it should be more moist and should be able to make more close to Marie Callender's original corn bread muffin. And the best part is, so easy to make!

Just for my blog readers, I have coupon code that you can use on their website:

Coupon Code: VF113 coupon good for 10% off entire purchase, cannot be combined with any other offers or coupons. Expires 11/19/2010

BCD tofu house - Koreatown

BCD tofu house on wilshire blvd. We had poor service, slow and our waiter didn't bring us the things we asked for. I can't remember how many times we asked for coke, water, or iced tea. But the food was good just like other BCD tofu house.

When I was here with my friend back in August, they said they can't serve eggs because of salmonella.
