The Bun Shop - Koreatown

I was invited to The Bun shop so I went there on opening day. Some of you may know the bun truck, yes, they opened the store. There are few items that you can't get at the truck, and pork BBQ is the one of them and that's what I got. The service was friendly, food was delicious. The bun truck and the bun shop, they never disappoints me.

Happy Hour: 20% off total order from 4-7pm

I got combo. 2 buns, fries, salad, and your choice of drink. I wish I could get two different buns but they said no, it has to be two same buns... for now. They are working on it!

I never had sparkling apple juice so that's what I got.

Sweet potato fries

Pork BBQ. Pork belly, cucumber, citrus slaw, spicy bbq sauce.
It wasn't spicy at all. I thought it's gonna be more greasy and fatty, but it wasn't, which is good.
The bun was soft and smooth, my pork bbq bun was so flavorful. I really loved it.

And for my dessert, I had to get this. Custard Bun on bed of popcorn with salted caramel.

Yup, basically small custard buns on top of popcorn.

After finished eating all just by myself, I was so full..

800 Degrees Neopolitan Pizzeria - Santa Monica

I went to 800 degrees pizzeriain Santa Monica on opening day. Because they were giving away free pizza and soda! It was really crowded, we waited an hour but all 3 of us got free pizzas!

menu

Margherita with olives, spinach, red oonions. Normally $10.

Margherita with pepperoni, and not sure what other two toppings.

And here's my pizza Verde with rock shrimp, ham, meatballs, and bacon marmalade. Normally $17.

Meatballs didn't have much flavor. Bacon marmalade was sweet and tasty. Not sure if I'd pay extra $3 for it but it was good. I wish they put ham more equally. The crust was really chewy, I couldn't cut it, even with knife. Still, I enjoyed my pizza.

Products review: Zyliss corn stripper and holders

I recently received Zyliss corn holders, corn stripper, and corn butterer. So I got corns, and tried corn stripper and holders. Believe it or not, this was my first time cooking corn at home! Yeah, I know. I couldn't believe it either. I never cooked corn at home before?? One thing I remember is I used corn holder at someone's house about 10 years ago, and it broke. I don't think I broke it, I think it was just low quality.

I cooked in boiling water

This Zyliss corn holders were good size to hold, the clever corn holders lock together for safe storage, rustproof and dishwasher safe.

I like this corn stripper. It's so easy to use. No mess! Kernels off the cob in second! And I like the color and design. I bet I can use this for something else to peel, too..?

So far, I love Zyliss products. They are all made safe, cute design and easy to use. I can't wait to use other products I received!

Walter Manzke's Republique - Los Angeles

I was so excited to finally try chef Walter Manzke's restaurant. This place used to be La Brea bakery. I made reservation at 6pm to avoid crowds and it was right decision. By the time I leave, the place was packed and I saw people waiting.

Food was very good but small portions.

And just a note. On the menu says "A 3% charge will be added to each guest check, to ensure health & medical benefits for our entire staff. Please adjust your gratuity accordingly."

Oh yes, I had to get some pastries to go, of course. How can I ignore them??
