Croissant Taiyaki at Snowya - Little Tokyo

I was here when they just opened, back in January and I was so excited because I can finally have croissant taiyaki here in L.A. But this place was a huge disappointment. Taiyaki wasn't fresh made, it was already baked and was sitting in the case. When you buy Taiyaki in Japan, it's usually they make fresh so already hot, fresh and delicious so that's what I expected. Anyway, it was overpriced and the service was not very good either. When I was there, the worker didn't understand English well. * BTW this is Korean owned store, not Japanese. But since it was still first or second week after they opened, I gave them some time and I went back again. The store was open, I hear someone cleaning dishes or something in the back, but absolutely no one was there. I called them few times but no answer so I just left. No wonder this place is always empty.

Tsubaki - Echo Park

I've been wanting to try this place and I finally got to try last week. Our server told us the owner is Japanese American. He arranged his mom's recipe. Everything was small portion and overpriced, but they were delicious. I'd recommend to eat before you come here like we did. All the food was total $60 and you still be hungry.

Suiyoubi no neko belgian white ale (wednesday's cat) $10
It's good beer.. still, they charge $10 for a can of beer..?
Nasu nibitashi $8
Japanese eggplant / myoga / grated daikon
Buta kakuni $18
hatcho miso braised pork belly / kabocha / komatsuna / hot mustard
Tsukune $10
Grilled chicken meatballs / yuzu / poached egg / shichimi

Hojicha parfait $10
Hojicha ice cream / coffee jelly / corn flakes

Disappointed. Ice cream was too sweet and didn't have strong hojicha flavor. I wish there were more than just coffee jelly, ice cream and corn flakes. They could add some fruits, or other garnish. If you want Hojicha ice cream, definitely try Midori matcha

Lunch special at Parks BBQ - Koreatown (2)

I recently came here for their lunch special. Parks BBQ is expensive if you come here during dinner time. But they offer daily lunch special for only $10. We didn't have to wait but it was crowded. Although the food was served prompt.

We came here on Wednesday and we ordered all 3 lunch specials, Naengmyeon + bulgogi $10.99, Parks bulgogi lunch set $10.99, and beef short rib soup $7.99.

We parked on the street but I think valet parking was $3.

I guess bulgogi lunch set also comes with steamed egg and tofu soup. On the menu says yellow corvina is also included but we didn't get it. Maybe they forgot.
